DUNTZE, Johannes Bartholomäus (1823 - 1895)

 
 
        As I did many times here, I posted some painters not flemish, but with a style close to the flemish painters who eather had flemish teachers or just used them as inspiration. Johannes Bartholomäus Duntze is such a painter with incredible beautiful works, his winter /rural scenes being my favorites. He met the public's approval by skilfully choosing to proper motifs from Holland, Norway, Switzerland, Tyrol, from the river Rhine and Moselle areas. His works can be seen in museums of art in Hannover, Stuttgart, Mainz, Bern, Genve, and in other cities. From 1838 Duntze studied first at the academy of art in Munich, later on in Berlin and Antwerp and from 1851 to 1855 in Genve under A. Calame. 1855 he lived for a short time in Paris and from 1856 onwards in Düsseldorf.  He participated at many German and foreign exhibitions, e.g. regularly from 1866 to 1888 at the academy's exhibition in Berlin, later on at the great art exhibitions in Berlin, at English, Swiss and 1888/89 a Danish exhibition in Copenhagen.
